Refurbish a vending machine
Restore vending machine: Gumball machine, 7 up soda machine, exact weight scale
Service van or truck. I carry all of these items with me in the tool box and for the purpose of refurbishing vending machines that do not look as nice because the paint is fading or worn.
Items that must be carried:
- Tools: screw driver, pliers, sockets set, allen wrenches, hammer, drill, metal drill bits.
- Tape: Double Hello everyone. There are a few things that every vending machine operator should have while in the sticky tape for making displays quickly if you need to
- Painters tape: The blue kind. Doesn’t leave a residue like duct tape does
- Window scraper: great for taking stickers and things off of your plexi glass
- Spray paint: black, red (depends on the color vending machines you have)
- Sand paper: 320 grit
These are important so that when you get on a vending location for service you can quickly overhaul your machine to make it look great again. New machines are a major attraction to kids. Every time I repaint a machine I get higher revenue the next service cycle so keep in mind that the opportunity for making more money from a clean and fresh paint job on your machines are real.
To give you a real example of a machine that I have refurbished the paint on is while out servicing is this scale made by Impulse Amusements. Impulse Amusements makes some incredible machines and more importantly they are made in America and that really means quality. I am not getting paid by them to say that in this post. Those are my genuine feelings I have about that the machines they fabricate. I have been ripped off by other companies that don’t fabricate their equipment States side and I just don’t want that to happen to anyone else.
Moving forward, so as you can see the vending weight scale is set up for impulse type vending and in the
Latino community really loves to drop money into these scales. So as you can see I have taken this dirty old white painted machine and have cleaned it up with Windex and then taped off the labels with painters tape. It takes a while to tape off the machine however the time it takes to clean the machine up on location will save you a bunch of time and money driving the machine back and forth to your house or shop. After the machine is taped off the best thing to scuff up the old paint job on the equipment so the new spray paint will stick to the metal without any funky spots for poor adhesion.
It would take you long to paint the machine. The trick is to paint with light coats all the way around the machine rather than doing one heavy coat of paint once..You get more runs that way anyways. If you get a run in an area a trick is to get a piece of the blue painters tape to cover over the drip. All you do is a quick stick on a peel of the fresh paint in that area with that tape. Let it dry and then dust the paint removed area several times before actually covering the surface. The process should go as follows. Paint and then let it dry (not completely just tacky) Then repeat the process until you have sufficiently covered the surface. Sooner that you thing you will have a brand new machine to put back on location making money.
